About Us

Wildwoods Flowers was founded in 1998 and is owned and operated by myself, Cindy Shelton. I
began my floral career in Austin, Texas. One floral design class and I was hooked! I then enrolled in the Texas Master Florist program and landed my first apprentice job with the late R.A. Lewis of Tarrytown Florist. Under the direction of Mr. Lewis I learned not only the basics of good floral design but the respect and confidence to work with high profile clients. To this day, that training has been invaluable. Life events led me to Santa Barbara, CA where I spent the next 8 years as a designer for S.R. Hogue &Co. in Montecito. We worked with very elite clients, celebrities, CEO's of entertainment and music corporations, etc. in their homes, for their weddings, events and parties. We were also the house florist for the Four Seasons Biltmore and San Ysidro Ranch. I learned to work under intense pressure, deal with temperamental and demanding clients and do it with panache! I have always loved the Wild West and Native American culture and during a vacation through the area realized it was time for a change. I felt at home the second I drove into Durango and made the move shortly after the first visit.

These days I work out of my private studio space creating custom floral designs and creating art in watercolors, alcohol inks and making home decor items from recycled materials.  My work can be seen at Re-Love in downtown Durango, Views of Vallecito Gallery and in the gift shop at the Blue Lake Bed and breakfast and at select local art shows.  My art can also be purchased through this site.
